Viola sempervirens (Trailing Wood Violet, Evergreen Violet)

Observed in the Hyacinthe Bay Stewardship Area

BC List: S5 (Yellow)

For more information see http://linnet.geog.ubc.ca/Atlas/Atlas.aspx?sciname=Viola sempervirens

The flowers are very similar to Viola glabella. The two species can distinguished by the leaves. Sempervirens leaves are evergreen flatter and rounder. Glabella leaves are more heart-shaped and deeply veined. See below (sempervirens on left).
