Over the year's I've noticed that the timing of the flowering of red-flowering currant often coincides with the arrival of hummingbirds from the south. 

 

March 30, 2018

Since the above post, rufous hummingbirds have returned to Hyacinthe Bay. The currant bushes along the shoreline are now flowering more fully.
