Falco peregrinus (Peregrine Falcon)

Observed in the Hyacinthe Bay Stewardship Area in 2019.

BC List: S3 to S2 depending on subspecies (Blue-Red)

The bird in the images below, taken on August 25, 2019, on the tideflats of Hyacinthe Bay on Quadra Island, is believed to be Falco peregrinus ssp Pealei, which is blue-listed In BC. This individual was observed attacking (unsuccessfully) juvenile Bonaparte's gulls. It appeared to be a juvenile itself. Observed through a spotting scope and photographed by David Broadland.
