  • Daisy's Grove

Daisy's Grove is a group of about twenty old-growth Douglas firs up to 18 feet in circumference located just to the west of Steamboat Pass Trail. In 2019, the operator of Woodlot 2026 was considering building a road into the area of the grove and the trail and was contemplating extensive logging.

The Grove is named for Daisy Lang, born on Read Island on February 12, 1893 to Laura Smith. Daisy was, reportedly, the first white person born on Read Island. Read more about the circumstances of Daisy's birth and early years here.
